Haiti Debt Cancellation Update

Despite lobbying the IMF has not cancelled Haiti’s existing debt. In fact it has added a new loan of $102 million to old debt. This is disappointing for Haiti who are struggling to recover from the devastating earthquake of January 12th.

The British government has not given taken a stance on the issue and we need the government to make public statements that they can be held to in the future. Please join us as we pray for debt relief for Haiti.

We would love you to write to your MP asking them to lobby the government to make a statement in support of debt relief for Haiti. You can find out who your MP is and send them an email at http://www.writetothem.com/ or alternatively you can post them a letter.

Father God, we lift to you the nation of Haiti. We pray that the IMF would cancel the debt Haiti owes them. Please soften the hearts of the board members that they may be merciful as you are merciful to us.
We pray thatthe British government would come out in support of the cancellation of Haiti’s debt and that they would put pressure on the IMF to act on this. Father we commit Haiti into your hands, would you guide the process and bring about good decisions for the future of Haiti.
Amen
